Por qué operamos este programa en La Jolla

La Jolla Shores has the gentlest beginner waves in San Diego County — a gradual sandbar bottom, 500 yards of lifeguarded beach, and consistent waist-high surf. Our cohorts come from San Diego Unified's Muirlands Middle, Kate Sessions Elementary, and Mission Bay High, with curriculum support from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Windansea serves only our advanced Surf Athletic Scholarship athletes.

Ocean Stewardship en La Jolla — Lo que debes saber

Safe cleanup protocols trained every event — sharp debris, hazardous waste, and proper handling for nervous first-time volunteers from La Jolla.

Free beach cleanups in La Jolla are Ocean Stewardship at Un Mar de Colores — monthly events combining hands-on debris removal with environmental justice education. Unlike paid eco-volunteer tourism, we provide supplies, bilingual briefings, citizen science training, and community service documentation at zero cost.

Por qué La Jolla importa para nuestra misión

With 46,781 residents, La Jolla is one of the communities where a single free surf cohort can change dozens of lives per season. Our shuttles and school partnerships make distance (on the coast) a logistics problem we solve, not a barrier families carry alone.

Environmental justice in La Jolla isn't abstract: watershed health, beach closures, and plastic pollution affect the same communities we serve. Our programs connect surf skills to stewardship of San Diego's coastline.
