You Might Be Feeling This

  • You've hesitated because your child doesn't swim confidently — and nobody explained how beginner therapeutic sessions start.
  • You want licensed professionals on-site, not volunteers with good intentions and no clinical training.
  • Kumeyaay and Indigenous healing practices matter to you, but commercial wellness programs erase coastal cultural roots.

What Changes When Youth Get in the Water

  • Referral pathways from Del Mar Union School District counselors and mental health agencies streamline enrollment.
  • Bilingual staff and parent communications in English and Spanish — 8% households served fully.
  • Licensed mental health professional on-site every session — clinical rigor meets ocean-based practice.

Why We Run This Program in Del Mar

Del Mar's 2.5-mile coastline produces some of the cleanest water and most consistent small waves in the region, protected by the San Dieguito River mouth eddies. Our 15th Street Beach lessons sit in front of Powerhouse Park, which doubles as our outdoor classroom. We partner with Del Mar Union's Del Mar Heights and Ashley Falls Elementary — serving primarily inland Del Mar Mesa and Carmel Valley neighborhoods.

Why Del Mar Matters to Our Mission

From Del Mar's Title I schools to the sand, our pipeline is built on real partnerships — not generic 'serving the area' language. Every cohort names the schools, beaches, and community orgs involved.

Del Mar families deserve instructors who look like their kids and speak their language. With 20% BIPOC residents, bilingual coaching isn't a nice-to-have — it's how we earn trust on day one.
