Quizás sientes esto
- —Summer fills up fast, and by the time you hear about a program, Santee cohorts are already full.
- —Insurance, liability, and 'experience required' language on surf school sites make you close the tab before enrolling.
- —School counselors mention programs, but the 'free' ones always seem to have a catch — equipment fees, deposits, or waitlists that never move.
Lo que cambia cuando los jóvenes entran al agua
- Environmental stewardship is built into curriculum — surf skills tied to watershed and pollution literacy.
- Alumni of our Surf Athletic Scholarship program mentor beginners — representation matters in the water.
- Adaptive pacing for different ages (6–17) within structured cohorts — not one-size-fits-all chaos.

Surf Lessons en Santee — Lo que debes saber
Sign-up friction keeps eligible Santee families out. We prioritize counselor referrals and partner org introductions — if you found this page, contact us and we'll route you to the right cohort.
After-school overlap matters in Santee: families juggling work and childcare need predictable schedules. We publish cohort calendars early and coordinate with Santee School District / Grossmont Union High partners so enrollment isn't a guessing game.
Por qué Santee importa para nuestra misión
Santee sits inside San Diego County's coastal equity gap — 38% of residents identify as BIPOC, yet beach access has historically been gated by cost, transportation, and culture. Un Mar de Colores closes that gap with free programming and school-based recruitment.
The ocean off Santee belongs to everyone. Un Mar de Colores exists because San Diego has spent decades telling BIPOC youth otherwise — and we're changing that story one cohort at a time.
