Por qué operamos este programa en Escondido

Escondido is the largest inland city in North County — 51% Hispanic/Latino, with 17,000+ students in Escondido Union School District. We partner with Central, Farr, and Orange Glen Elementary for shuttle-based transportation to South Ponto in Carlsbad. Our Escondido summer cohorts are a signature program because of the city's distance from the coast and the genuine access gap it represents.

Free cultural arts workshops in Escondido center Indigenous, Latino, and Chicano coastal voices at Un Mar de Colores — quarterly sessions and summer artist residencies with all supplies, guest artists, and exhibition opportunities at zero cost.

Por qué Escondido importa para nuestra misión

Environmental justice in Escondido isn't abstract: watershed health, beach closures, and plastic pollution affect the same communities we serve. Our programs connect surf skills to stewardship of North County's coastline.

From Escondido's Title I schools to the sand, our pipeline is built on real partnerships — not generic 'serving the area' language. Every cohort names the schools, beaches, and community orgs involved.
